Barron Trump, the youngest son of former President Donald Trump, is set to embark on his first significant political venture as an at-large delegate for Florida at the upcoming Republican National Convention. NBC News reported this announcement, highlighting a new chapter for Barron, who has mostly stayed away from the political limelight.
According to Evan Power, the chairman of the Florida GOP, the delegation boasts a robust lineup including grassroots leaders, elected officials, and members of the Trump family. “Florida is continuing to have a great convention team, but more importantly we are preparing to win Florida and win it big,” Power stated.
At just 18, having turned this age in March, Barron’s appointment marks his debut into a more public political life, distinguishing him from his more frequently seen siblings, Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Tiffany Trump, who are also serving as at-large delegates.
The timing of Barron’s political introduction coincides with his father’s ongoing legal challenges, notably the New York criminal trial concerning hush money payments. The court recently allowed the former president a break to attend Barron’s high school graduation scheduled for May 17.
Eric Trump, who serves as the chairman of Florida’s RNC delegation, along with other Trump family members, has amplified the Trump influence within the state’s political realm. This comes amidst a complex political landscape with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also vying for the presidential nomination, creating a nuanced dynamic within the Florida GOP.
Additionally, the delegation will include key Trump supporters like Kimberly Guilfoyle, Donald Trump Jr.’s fiancée; Michael Boulous, Tiffany Trump’s husband; and former state Attorney General Pam Bondi, among others.
