Pete Davidson mocked Ariana Grande when she claimed their relationship was only a “distraction.” The couple started dating in May 2018 and notably had a five-month engagement before calling it quits.
The comedian discussed the connection in his 2020 Netflix special, Pete Davidson: Alive From New York. He mentioned Ariana’s remarks to Vogue earlier that year, in which she stated, “I met Pete, and it was a fantastic distraction.” It was frivolous and fun, ridiculous and highly unrealistic, and I loved him despite the fact that I didn’t know him.”
Davidson addressed the incident, saying, “I wasn’t going to make jokes about it, but then my buddy informed me, he’s like, ‘Yo, I recently heard Arianna claimed she had no idea who you were. And she just dated you as a distraction.
“Now I just believe it’s fair game, and you’re like, ‘Pete, this isn’t fair.'” You appear to be airing out dirty laundry. How could you possibly do that? ‘Why would she say this to her pals in the privacy of her own home?’ She didn’t say it on the cover of Vogue.
“Imagine what would happen if I did that. “My career will end tomorrow.” “If I spray painted myself brown and climbed on the cover of Vogue magazine and just started s**tting on my ex,” says the cruel punchline.
As the audience clapped, Davidson said, “Can you picture the, no, don’t clap, those are Drake, Lil Wayne wings claps?” That bothers me; I like the giggles.
“But imagine if I did that s**t when I was just f**king her because I was bored and then Fortnite came out.” That’d be ridiculous. These are, once again, jokes. I don’t want to inhale any smoke. Okay, my worst worry is that I’ll get shot in the back of the head by a nine-year-old with a ponytail.” One individual commented on the violent video, saying, “He went straight for the neck with that spray paint joke lol.”
“Jaw dropped once he said ‘spray painted myself brown,’ lol I am BAFFLED,” another remarked. “Shot in the back of the skull by a nine-year-old with a ponytail,” someone else wrote.
It’s safe to assume that Davidson has done well since then. His brief relationship with Kim Kardashian was followed by Emily Ratajkowski. He understands what he’s doing.
