Anyone who has been through a breakup can attest to how difficult it can be, but one can only imagine how much worse it must be to experience a breakup in public view. Given that they were on different coasts and that Kanye West had declared “civil war” on the Bodies, Bodies, Bodies actor, it’s likely that Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian’s relationship wasn’t simple, to begin with. While Davidson was reportedly sad that the relationship ended, it appears that time and distance have begun to alter his perspectives.

Even though they appeared to have a lot of chemistry, Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson ended their nine-month relationship in August. The Wizards! the actor reportedly turned to his co-star Orlando Bloom for support in the days that followed, but according to Hollywood Life, he now realizes why their relationship wasn’t meant to survive. A source that is reportedly close to Davidson told the site:

“While Pete was torn up when the split first happened, he has had some time now and is in a much better place with it. He sees that they were clearly not meant to be. They are from two different worlds, but more like two completely different universes. Pete does not talk to Kim now, and they pretty much had a clean break.”

Between Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian, the chemistry was never a problem. They broke up due to a number of other circumstances, including their 13-year age gap, which was supposedly an issue for Kardashian. Along with having demanding work schedules—Davidson has had many projects in development since leaving Saturday Night Live— they were also in different places in their lives when it came to children. While the comedian said he dreamed of having a family of his own, Kardashian may not have been ready to take that step, as she already has four kids with Kanye West — North, 9, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3.

As per Cinemablend, the Kimye kids had spent some time with their mom’s boyfriend, a former cast member of Saturday Night Live, who appeared to be quite concerned about them. Kanye West criticized Pete Davidson for getting their initials tattooed on his neck during a recent Instagram outburst about his problems co-parenting with Kim Kardashian.

Dealing with Kim Kardashian’s ex-husband was undoubtedly another challenge Pete Davidson faced during their relationship. The comedian reportedly sought trauma counseling following the breakup, despite making jokes about Kanye West’s attacks when he and Kardashian were still together.

Hollywood Life’s source said Pete Davidson is now leaning on his mother and sister for support, and while he can understand why the split needed to happen, he does not regret his relationship with Kim Kardashian. The source continued:

He’s been feeling much better about the whole thing lately and has relied heavily on his mom and sister for support. They know him better than anybody and know the right things to say to help make him feel better. He learned a lot from his relationship and wouldn’t take it back for the world. He has no idea what the future holds in terms of his romantic life but right now that’s taking a back seat and his career is at the forefront of his mind.

The ex-couple may have made a “clean break,” but Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson are probably still together. At least one scene from The Kardashians Season 2’s trailer hinted at the presence of the comedian during filming. On Thursday, September 22, when the show is available to Hulu users again, we’ll have to wait and see how much he is featured.
