Josiah Brown was pronounced dead on Sunday morning at around 10:15 a.m. Josiah Brown fell 6 feet into Lake Michigan from Navy Pier in Chicago on Sept. 19 and died Sunday, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The 3-year-old Illinois boy who died after being pushed into Lake Michigan by his aunt and spending more than 30 minutes underwater has died. According to online records obtained by PEOPLE, Josiah Brown died on Sunday morning around 10:15 a.m.

The cause of death for Josiah is unknown, according to the records. The Des Plaines boy, known to his family as JoJo, was pushed into the lake from Navy Pier, a popular tourist destination in Chicago.

Authorities believe his aunt, Victoria Moreno, 34, pushed Josiah into the water, where he fell more than six feet. “The offender did not attempt to rescue the victim,” police said in a news release.

PEOPLE previously reported that officials claim she stood on the pier and watched as the boy slowly sank out of sight. Later, Moreno is said to have denied knowing Josiah. Thirty minutes after entering the water, divers found the boy alive.

In cardiac arrest, he was rushed to the hospital. Moreno has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated battery on a child. Following the death of the boy, those charges are likely to be upgraded.

She is due back in court on September 30, when she will most likely be asked to enter a plea. Her public defender was not available for comment on Monday. Moreno is still being held without bail.

Josiah’s godmother has launched an online GoFundMe campaign. It had already raised nearly $15,000 by Monday afternoon.
