Tony Romo, the former quarterback turned CBS analyst, experienced an amusing slip-up during a recent NFL broadcast. While commentating on the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Las Vegas Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium, Romo mistakenly referred to pop star Taylor Swift as Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s wife. This occurred right after Kelce’s milestone 900th career reception.

In a recent article by Forbes, Romo’s comment, “And his wife loves it, I mean, girlfriend,” sparked laughter from Jim Nantz, his fellow play-by-play announcer. Nantz humorously reminded Romo that he had made a similar mistake before.

This wasn’t Romo’s first mix-up involving Swift. During a Chiefs game against the Buffalo Bills earlier in the month, Romo again linked Swift to Kelce, saying, “This is intercepted by most people, as you see Kelce’s wife Taylor Swift in the audience – er, I’m sorry.” Nantz’s quick reply, “Not yet,” added to the light-hearted moment.

These gaffes come amidst growing media interest in Swift and Kelce’s relationship. Swift, in her Time magazine 2023 Person of the Year profile, shared that their romance began after Kelce mentioned her on his podcast. They had been seeing each other for some time before going public, Swift revealed.

Swift has been a visible supporter at Kelce’s games this season, including the recent one that she attended with her family, all in festive attire. Despite the Chiefs’ loss, Swift and Kelce were seen leaving the game hand-in-hand, confirming their strong bond.
